Yarns Untold Personal Project

The Challenge

I love yarn. In my search for a local yarn store near me, I came across Yarns Untold. However, my journey into exploring this store was cut short - there were no product pages, online shopping capabilities, or intriguing content for me to peruse. I decided to give it a redesign on my own time.

The Outcome

In preparation for the redesign, I created a user persona, user flow, and wireframes. I primarily wanted to create an effective user flow to purchase yarn (as that would be the store’s primary source of income). I also created a navigation bar that included all the primary pages that users would need. I decided to add patterns as a section of this website to encourage repeat visits. These patterns would also suggest yarns that are able to be purchased easily through the store. Overall, I wanted to give the website a facelift.

Here is the current design of the Yarns Untold website. The yarns page is text based and there is no call to action on the home page.

The Redesign

I started with creating a user persona, determining the primary user story, and sketched out wireframes. These assets guided the future design decisions as I created various frames of this imagined website.
